Feeling Like a Twit
After creating a Twitter account, I have to be honest that this is not for me. I am really uncomfortable with the idea of posting the minutae of my life. I just don't think it's that interesting. I do understand how it could be useful for libraries and other entities for marketing and getting the word out. Yet, I am so awash in logins, passwords, messages, posts, etc. it is difficult for me to coordinate these social networking tools. Perhaps I am missing something???

RSS Redo
Just got back from a few days off, and realized that I forgot to publish my blog entry of my RSS experience! I just perused my Google Reader feeds and found it very interesting reading once it was all together. Some were just so boring or duplicated elsewhere that I unsubscribed. Nevertheless, I really enjoy this application. Now onto social bookmarking.

RSS Feeds Me
Last summer I subscribed to some RSS feeds on my iGoogle page. I love them, and they keep me up-to-date all in one place everytime I'm on the internet. On my iGoogle page, I get news from NPR, CNN, and Daily Beast. For library news, I am a big fan of EarlyWord and ilibrarian that keep informed about collection development, reader's advisory, and technology. I recently added ALA's feed.
For this 23 Things Kansas, I added more feeds on Google Reader. I mostly added recommended librarian blogs and international news.

Oh, the Pleasure & Pressure of Social Networking
I created a Facebook page a number of months ago in another workshop. I used my personal e-mail that I share with my husband. We weren't prepared for the deluge of "friends" and family that ensued. Now the pressure is one to keep up with everyone and keep our page fresh and up-to-date. Social networking is not my nature---I don't always think my thoughts or activities are that exciting for anyone to follow. Nevertheless, participating in 23 Things Kansas is giving me a different perspective. My homework this weekend is to update my Facebook and reveiw my privacy settings.
